Appellate Division Briefs

Rule 2:6-10 provides that all briefs shall contain no more than 26 double-spaced lines of no more than 65 characters, including spaces, per line and a type of no less than 10-pitch or 12-point. However, many new computers come with a default font which does not comply with the rule. Please be advised that the Clerk's office will be strictly enforcing Rule 2:6-10's limitations for both merits and motion briefs. Briefs which do not comply will not be filed.

Rule 2:6-2 provides that the appendix page of each document referred to in the procedural history shall be noted therein. It also provides that the statement of facts must be supported by references to the appendix and transcript. Failure to include adequate references may be cause for dismissal of the appeal or suppression of the brief whenever discovered, even if after scheduling of the appeal for oral argument or submission without argument.
